Step-by-step process
Modifiers are a powerful feature in the SalesPlay POS system that allow businesses to offer extra customization for products. They are commonly used in restaurants, cafés, and retail outlets to provide additional options such as toppings, fillings, or add-ons. With modifiers, you can let customers personalize their orders (e.g., adding extra cheese to a pizza or extra syrup in a coffee).
This guide explains what modifiers are, how to create and attach them in the Back Office, and how to use them on the POS App. It also covers advanced features such as modifier quantity increase and ordering modifier groups.
What are Modifiers?
Modifiers are additional items or options that can be linked to products. They are also known as Add-ons, Toppings, or Fillings.
For example:
Tip: Modifiers must first be set up in the Back Office before they can be used in the POS App.
To set up modifiers for your products, follow these steps:
After saving, modifiers will be automatically synced and available in the POS App.
Example:
You create a modifier group called "Cheese". Under it, you add "Cheddar" and "Mozzarella". Then, you attach it to Pizza category. Now, every pizza order in the POS App will allow customers to choose their preferred cheese.
Once modifiers are set up, you can apply them to products during billing.
Steps in the POS App:
Example:
A customer orders a burger with double lettuce and extra mayonnaise. You select Burger → choose modifiers → tap lettuce twice to increase quantity → add mayonnaise → click Add.
Modern customers love flexibility, and sometimes they want more than just one portion of a modifier. The Modifier Quantity Increase feature lets you adjust how much of a modifier is added.
Example:
How it Works
Sometimes you may want modifier groups to appear in a specific order to make billing easier (e.g., show Sauces before Cheese). SalesPlay POS allows you to rearrange how modifiers are displayed.
Steps to Change Modifier Group Order
Example:
If you run a pizza shop, you may want Cheese options to appear first, Sauces second, and Meats third.
Just like modifier groups, you can also control the order of modifiers inside a group.
Steps to Change Modifier Order
Example:
In the Sauces group, you can list Tomato Sauce first, Mayonnaise second, and BBQ Sauce third.
Modifiers for Variant Products
If your product has variants (e.g., Pizza Small, Pizza Medium, Pizza Large), modifiers can also be applied.
Note: To apply modifiers to variants, you may need to edit the modifier group in the Back Office and re-attach it to the variant product.
Example:
Attach Cheese Modifiers to Pizza Small, Pizza Medium, and Pizza Large separately if required.
