How to Setup Taxes

1. About Taxes

 

  • In the POS System, there are two types of taxes. The first one is “Product Tax”. Other one is “Invoice Tax”. Under the product tax, there are two more sub-categories. They are ‘included in the price’ and ‘added to the price’.
  • Under the ‘included in the price’ tax, the tax portion is already included in the product price. 
  • Under the ‘added to the price’ tax, the tax portion is NOT added to the product price and the tax will be added to the product price during the billing process. 
  • Under the ‘Invoice tax’, the tax portion will be added to the whole invoice total. It is NOT based on products. 
  • If the tax is Valued Added Tax (VAT), then you can tick ON “VAT TAX” option and enter VAT information such as registration number and company registration number. 

2. Taxes - Examples

 

  • Example: Product Tax - Included in the price 

Product price is US$ 100 and Tax rate is 10%. 

Coca Cola = $ 100 

Tax 10% = $ 9.09 

Total = $ 100 

(Here Coca Cola price is calculated both pretax price and tax portion. ( 90.91 +9.09)) 

 

  • Example: Product Tax - Added to the price 

Product price is US$ 100 and Tax rate is 10%. 

Coca Cola = $ 100 

Tax 10% = $ 10 

Total = $ 110 

  

  • Example: Invoice Tax  

Products prices are US$ 100 and US$ 50 and Tax rate is 10%. 

Coca Cola = $ 100 

Pepsi = $ 50 

Sub- Total = $ 150 

Tax 10% = $ 15 

Total = $ 165 


3. Login to POS Back Office > Select “ Settings ” from main menu

 

  1. Go to the “ Feature” 
  2. Tick ON “ Taxes Settings ” button 
  3. Click “ Save”  

4. Once you ON “Taxes”, it will appear as a sub-menu in Settings section

  

  1. Select Taxes  
  2. Click “Add Tax” 

5. Enter tax code and value > Select tax type from dropdown

 

Ex: If you want to add tax to the product, select 'Added to the price'.

  1. Click status ON 
  2. Click “Save” 

(If the tax is Valued Added Tax (VAT), then you can tick ON “VAT TAX” option and enter VAT information such as registration number and company registration number.) 


6. Now, If you want to attach product(s) click “Attach” in the pop up message.

 

  •   You can select the products category wise, or you can select the products one by one.
  •   Save the changes.

7. Add or Remove Tax from Product

 

  1. Login to POS Back Office Webportal  
  2. Select “ Products ” from main menu 
  3. Go to the “ Product list” 
  4. Select the product, you need to add/remove the tax
  5. In “Tax information” section, tick ON the tax button to add the tax
  6. In Tax information” section, tick OFF the tax button to remove the tax
  7. Click “ Save”
