How to enable/disable cash drawer/cash box

Step-by-steps

A properly configured and connected POS system should trigger the opening of the cash drawer/cash box/cash till seamlessly.

Cash drawer open option is configured within the POS App's printer setup page.

It's essential to assign the correct payment methods to ensure that the system recognizes and authorizes the opening of the cash drawer for transactions. Some payment methods may require specific configurations to activate the cash drawer.


How to set up a cash drawer

This feature will allow users to on/ off the cash drawer

1. POS App main menu
2. Select “ Settings ”
3. Select “Printers”
4. Click the “Add (+) button or edit the existing printer setup
5. Tick on “ Connect Cash drawer with printer” option
6. Click the “Save” button


How to enable/disable cash drawer for different Payment Types

This feature will allow users to on/ off the cash drawer for different payment types.


Ex: For Card payments, some businesses may need to ON the Cash drawer and some businesses may need to OFF the cash drawer opening.

1. Login to POS Back Office Webportal
2. Select “ Settings ” from main menu
3. Go to the “ Payment Types”
4. Click the relevant payment type
5. Click the drop-down button near ‘Additional Options”
6. Tick ON or OFF the “Cash drawer enable” button
7. Click “Update”


How to open cash drawer manually

The cash drawer/ cash box / till is programmed to open exclusively for specific functions, including cash transactions, cash refunds, credit settlements, shift openings, and shift closures. If there's a need to manually open the cash drawer for reasons other than those mentioned, users should follow the steps outlined below:

• POS App main menu
• Select “ New Sale ”
• Click the 3-dot button on the right-hand upper section
• Click “Open Drawer”
(Once you click the “Open Drawer”, the cash drawer will open)

To appear the “Open Drawer” button, the user need to activate the “Shift Management” function via Backoffice webportal FEATURE section

 


What if cash drawer is not open ?

  • Ensure the cash drawer open option is properly configured in the printer setup page of the POS app.
  • Verify the cash drawer cable is securely connected to the POS terminal.
  • Check the cable for any damage or loose connections.
  • Assign the correct payment methods to authorize the cash drawer opening for transactions.
  • Some payment methods may need specific configurations to activate the cash drawer.
  • Double-check that the cash drawer cable is connected to the correct port on the POS terminal.
